Desde a sua formação em 2016, os britânicos do Near Death Experience (NDR) impressionaram perante ao público e mídia especializada por seu “liquidificador sonoro”, e muito por suas explosivas apresentações ao vivo. Tanto que um ano depois, em 2017, já estavam se apresentando no mítico Festival de Glastonbury, o que contribuiu para a reputação expandir-se com grande velocidade.
Numa simbiose com elementos de funk, rock, soul, psicodelia e blues, uma coisa que chama bastante a atenção na sonoridade do grupo, é a energia visceral que emana dos seus registros, remetendo exatamente aos seus shows. As canções carregam essa vibe enlouquecida vibracional que encontramos na relação entre som de palco e grandes audiências.
Obviamente o novo single “Religion” não foge a regra. Apesar da aura levemente melancólica da introdução, com a bela voz de Ian Whiteling em caráter intimista nos “hipnotizando” para que acreditemos nele, logo a sensualidade inebriante toma conta do ambiente e torna toda a experiência mais sensorial. Mas isso não impede o combo funk-rock + psicodelia “comer solto”!
O rock’n’soul de caráter irresistível, percorre do baixo pesado pulsante ao crescente dos riffs da guitarra, através de um refrão de rara beleza. Os tons ásperos se interligam perfeitamente com a melodia suave “soft-deprê”, tecendo um single comovente em “Religion”. Percebemos também algum arremate da cena glam setentista, influências que vão emergindo em conjunto com uma série de passagens crescentes de trompa, que aumentam a tensão no estilo soul psicodélico antes do refrão.
